Steve,

Be careful about using the correct Fan Hub Extension. Two types were fitted
to the TR4A, one for metal fans (pt# 128318) and one for the plastic fan
(pt# 142121). I recall some frustrated listers attempting to use various fan
hub extensions that were too short or too long. I cannot speak to the TR3
hub extension length or part number.

My early 1965 TR4A came to me in 1982 with a yellow 6 blade fan fitted. I
have always believed this to be an original fitting. Some controversy exists
over whether this fan was available during the original production run of
the TR4A. The plastic fan illustrated in the Factory Parts Manual is very
different from the yellow 6 blade. The 'plastic' fan appears to be a
metal/fiberglass composite construction with 4 blades. Its hub extension
appears not to have the 4 threaded holes for bolts as required for the 6
blade yellow fan.

4 and 6 blade metal fans are listed as original equipment as well. The hub
extension listed for the metal fans is the only part number listed in the
TR4 parts manual. Perhaps someone can check a TR3 parts manual for a
different part number listing.

I have 3 bolt listings in the parts books, 128319 - TR4 (for crank handle)
142185 - TR4A metal (sort of 12 sided head) HB1349 - TR4A plastic (6 sided
head). Any of these bolts should work as there is a long threaded area on
the bolt and lots of threads on the crankshaft nose.

Be sure to test the extension length so there is no interference with the
radiator or suspension crossbar.

Good Luck!

Brad
