I can't comment on the quality of one grill from the other between the Big 3,
however one thing to be aware of and check is the size of the grill opening.
Original grills have an opening measure of ~3.03" x .63", with the
aftermarkets slightly smaller at ~2.84" x .5" . This amounts to a difference
of 24% surface area for air flow to the radiator. (Thanks to TerriAnn Wakeman
- VTR Mag#78). I can attest to these numbers as I have apparently both styles
and have removed the aftermarket that came with the vehicle and replaced it
with an original I picked up. The original was a bit road worn, with the
accompanying "correct" patina, but polished up OK. Whether it will help with
the cooling will be determined in the next driving season. Also, FYI, TRF has
made claims to an "improved version" of the grill, but I'd not checked the
opening measurements --> I'd think it may be worth the check before
purchasing.
Best Regards,
Ed (TR3A)
