What kind of shape is your PCV Valve in ?
My TR6 acted much like you described until I realized that the PO had 
removed the PCV system when he put the Weber carbs on.
The excess internal pressure had oil leaking any available exit.
Also, there's been lots of reports on this  list about oil leaks, 
exhaust smoke and spark plug fouling on the #6 cylinder, after 
installing the extra oil line.
It may be a case of shipwrights disease to install this part pn some 
cars.
