Pete,

Well, Santa's job used to be a lot easier than it is now.
It used to be that only Christians celebrated Christ's
birth, and thus he only had to make stops to their homes.

Nowadays, thanks to good old western commercialism,
as well as the nearly universal human attributes of greed
and the desire to get something for nothing, just about
everyone seems to be getting into the act. For example,
I witnessed many good Buddhist homes in Japan celebrating
at least some aspects of Christmas while I was there for
2 years back in the late 80's. Now Santa is having to go
all over the world to places he never really had to worry
about before. I'm sure that he is just running completely
ragged now, and I hope that he doesn't give out altogether!

Thankfully, one of the little tricks Santa has up his sleeve
that most people don't know about is that Santa uses
Inertial Dampers. This is the same device that the Enterprise
uses to prevent Picard & Co. from getting slammed through
the back of the ship everytime he says "Engage!", and Data
pumps the ship up to warp 9 in a matter of seconds.

Happy Holidays All,

Todd Richmond
