I see in Bentley that they call for this stuff, or equivalent, on both
sides of the head gasket. I guess if using it Permatex 2 would do the job
as it retains its plasticity.
But I've never put goop on a head gasket before - is this just an outdated
approach? Or is there a need, due to this being a wetliner? If the latter,
why the goop on the head side?
25 years of playing with car motors is telling me not to use anything. Have
I been wrong all along, or is this one of those cases where there are
several schools of thought, all based on "That's the way I always did it
and my Daddy before me"?
