If you live in mountainous areas the OD comes in handy for splitting
gears when one gear is too low and the other is too high for the grade.

If you drive on winding roads splitting gears with an OD can allow you to
to be near peak power for the curves without over reving or bogging.

If you live in the flatlands an OD is good for a fifth gear & maybe not
much else but is you line in mountainous areas and/or drive winding roads
fast, being able to split gears is really nice.
