Hi Rick,
If you find that it is not part of the belt/alternator system you might
want to check the vacuum system. You can get whistling from leaks at the
PCV or vaccum assist on the brake servo. I had an old Pinto that used to
whistle quite a tune when the PCV would start to work it's way out of the
grommet.
