>Last time we were in France with the TR we found a TR3a & Vitesse in
the hotel car park one evening. Next morning we met the owners & had
a chat. We discovered the 3a had been imported from the UK &
converted to LHD. I suggested that the previous owner could have
picked up a (cheaper) LHD car in the states & the owner told me that
the car had originally been in the US, imported to the UK & converted
to RHD, before going to France for a LHD conversion!

It surely was a pre-60 000 model car as the post-60 000 cars are not easily
reversible. My 57 TR3 (small mouth) has the fire wall openings for placing
the steering wheel, etc. on either side and I often muse about converting
it over to RHD jsut for the novelty of it. After all, a car with a push
button starter (and a hand crank, too), side curtains, cutdown doors that
allow one to pick up the paper without opening the door is a welcome
respite from modern transportation and putting the steering wheel on the
other side only enhances the experience, in my opinion. But, that's a
project for another day.
