Hi Brian-
I tried the clamp trick already- unfortunately it didn't work. I also tried
a turnsignal flasher in the power supply line, but there wasn't enough
resistance to make it work, either.

Another lister has kindly offered to send me a pressure regulator to help
out the problem for the time being.
