My point of view is that balanced engines are better in every regard for
every purpose than unbalanced engines. Why anyone thinks it is important in
a V8 and not important in a 4-banger is beyond me.
Do these guys regularly work on 4-cylinder sports-car engines?
How much do they quote for balancing?
How much do other shops quote for balancing?
