Once again I did find an old TR 3 (original but used) door check (stop).

It bolts onto the door hinge post and goes through the body hinge post
and limits the degree the door can be opened.  It consists of the steel
strap, nut and bolt, and rubber cup and steel washer.

Anyone interested in it.
