Ken, Jordan, List Members,
forgive me if I'm going over ground recently covered. I just joined the
list......
for your stuck nut, I'd try a nut splitter if you haven't already.
For your head mods, remember that Kastner was racing those cars and not
driving them around town.
If you took off .090", you'd probably have MAJOR detonation problems even
with premium fuel.
Cut that figure in half for a more long-lived street car, and I don't think
you'd have to bother with shorter pushrods.
Also, I highly reccomend a solid copper head gasket from Dunst Mordy's
http://www.headgasket.com/
He can make a gasket in any thickness you prefer for approx. $50. A
BARGAIN when you consider a repro stock gasket is almost $30.
Finally, when you go to put your head back on, make sure the liners are all
standing .003-.005" proud, and within .002" of each other.
Don't know about the K&Ns, but my '62 TR4 has its original H6 carbs on a
longer 4a manifold with 4a air cleaners. Works well.
G'luck!
