Seems there's a doubt as to whether the rim cover is leather or not. AFAIR they
were
leather. Only a few weeks back, I swapped wheels on my PI which has a satin
chrome finish
to the spokes and this goes all the way through to the rim itself. The one I
removed was
more than past its best and has been replaced with one from a Stag - which is a
wee bit
smaller. As the displaced one was so bad, I had a look under the leather cover
which
didn't need much removing as the stitching had all but gone. The wheel innards
are two
circular half grips in hard off-white plastic bonded to either side of the
steel rim and
then leather covered. Don't see any reason why the TR wheel should be all that
different -
both cars cost about the same and leather covered wheels were 'de rigeur' at
the time.
