Hi Winnie,
One way is to take a wrench (or screwdriver), of sufficient mass, and drag it
over the spokes. You'll be listening for a definite ring.
If any spokes makes a dull 'thud' sound, chances are that it's loose. It's a
fairly straightforward tightening job, but if most are loose, you run the
risk of misalignment from hub to rim.
The only correct way would be to mount the wheel on a bench mounted hub and
rotate by hand while checking with a dial indicator.
