clutch master rebuild or buy new?

What is the opinion of the list regarding this question. I have noticed fluid 
leaking into  the driver's compartment & fluid on the engine side of the 
firewall. There is also a squeak every time the clutch pedal is depressed.
Are the $15 kits effective ? Do I need other tools for the rebuild? Could a 
split in the cap be the culprit? Where can I get a new cap? I haven't seen 
them in the catalogues  for a 79 Spit.
