brake pedal return spring for TR250 - where's it go?

Subject: brake pedal return spring for TR250 - where's it go?

The catalogs/parts manuals I have for my TR250 (Moss and TRF) both show
return springs inside the pedal box for the brake and the clutch. My car
had neither, so while I was on the phone with VB the other day ordering new
seat diaphragms I ordered two (same spring). The clutch spring fits fine.
However, I can't figure out how to place the brake pedal return spring
without interfering with the brake light switch. There is a hole in the
brake pedal (same relative place as on the clutch pedal) and a little tab
bent down from the pedal box with a hole in it to catch the other end of the
spring. Unfortunately, the brake light switch is right in between them.

Can someone with the spring in place please take a peek and let me know how
it's supposed to fit? Obviously, the car worked without either spring, so I
didn't let it delay reassembly and installation of the pedal box, but if
possible, I'd like to get it to fit.

Thanks once again to the list. What a marvelous resource... It would be
nice if we could figure out some way to easily capture the list's wisdom.
I'll give some thought to how messages could be tagged and categorized.
Future messages in the same thread could with either the same subject or
with a References: field pointing to the original message could be collected
automatically and assembled into a properly categorized web page with
question and answers.
