Tim,
I've always run unleaded in all my engines without any problems ever. When I
rebuild
an engine, I always have the head machined for seat inserts which are
off-the-shelf
items and install bronze guides machined for neoprene seals. If your machine
shop
claims they can't install the seats, maybe you should look for another machine
shop as
it is a very common operation when rebuilding a head.
Since you already had the head finished, I'd leave it alone as is. Given the
relatively low mileage our cars see each year, it should still last a long
time. Just
my 2 cents...
