Simple?  Perhaps we should take a vote on this.  I hope that we can reach
consenus before I need to change my thrust washers.

My view is that the oil grooves should be in the bearing surface and face
the crank (assuming that the TW remains stationary with respect to the
block - why provide lubrication for a fixed interface).  But then, I have
only ever seen a photograph of a thrust washer.

There would seem to be a market for bidirectional thrust washers.
