  You can basically put it anywhere, it's only the
amount of exhaust flowing that changes not really
the mixture.

  It does change the view you get of the engine though,
if you use it for tuning purposes. Neither is ideal
however, you are either looking at one cylinder
and getting a definitive answer, or looking at the
average of them all.

  Either way, it's not perfect.
