One point I haven't seen mentioned in this thread was about how the HP was
measured. Didn't the US automakers change from SAE gross HP to SAE net hp
when low-lead fuel came along, about 1971? That was worth (I'm guessing)
a 10 - 15% drop in HP rating on an identical engine, right there! Were
the ROW (rest of world) figures Net or Gross?
I had a '70 EnFo Cortina, 83 HP, 0 - 60 in 12.9 seconds. Later, I had a
'81 Honda Civic, 68 HP, 0 - 60 also 12.9 seconds. Weighed about the same.
