Sorry to bomb the list with non-LBC stufff, but this really caught my
attention. This message is making the rounds of the e-mail/Internet
routes:

The Houghton-Mifflin publishing co. is giving books to children's
hospitals; how many books they give depends on how many e-mails they
receive from people around the world -- for every 25 e-mails they
receive, they give one book. Their e-mail address is share@hmco.com.
Last year they received 23,000 e-mails and gave away close to 1000
books. Please take a moment to e-mail Houghton-Mifflin and forward this
message to your friends.

I dialed up http://ww.hmco.com to check on it and found that at
http://www.hmco.com/hmco/trade/hmi/polar/ there was a website refering
to this program. I was supicious of a bogus attempt to collect e-mail
addresses for some irresponsible use, but everything appears to be on
the up and up. Thanks everyone, and Happy Holidays!
