Margaret,

I'd try to insulate with a product that is about 1/4" bubble wrap encased
in foil on both sides, look at a local buidling supply retailer in
the insulation section.

Used some on my TR6, very easy to work with, and provides great sound
and heat insulation.

Bill

Pulled the cover off the gear box case. Found oily pad glued to the
top...what's up with that? Also found the vent on top...what's up with that?
Removed the oily pad...should it be replaced? With what?

The insulation inside the tunnel cover is bags of fiberglass. It's torn up,
oily and basically gross. When I replace the tunnel cover, what is the best
way to insulate for sound/heat?

Ahhhh, black fingernails.
