About three weeks ago I was driving my hybrid gt6/+ a late Sunday night
on a rural highway. The rear of the car began to vibrate increasingly as
I thought "here goes one of the u-joints," (which were long over-due for
replacement). I slowed down to about 55, I guess, when the vibration
suddenly became violent and
before I could slow down enough the right wheel was gone and the car slid
sideways and rolled about three times leaving me (still in the car) facing
the opposite
direction on the right shoulder, the car smashed total. Luckily I was only
bruised, acid splashed, and conscious, thanks to my
car's sturdy roof structure.
(I didn't even have a seat belt (not recommended)). I don't know why,
but the end of the axle shaft just broke near the wheel. Needless to say
I am sad. R.I.P. Gallileo: 1966/68 - 1996 , once a beautiful, rust-free gt6.
Anyway I paid to take it from the wrecking yard because I thought
some of you out there might be able to use some parts...
2 speedometers: one exc.(cleaned up and good chrome) one o.k.(clean, but
chrome stripped) - I'm not sure what ratio they are
because neither one ever worked for me with my unusual drive mix,
although I think one is for a '66 non-overdive s.n. kc7881 L and the
other one is a '68 overdrive gt6+ who's s.n. I can find later. I think I
will just sell both for a cheap single price.
the rest of the guages are the gt6+'s...
tach (rim painted black- why? :{ ), temp (nice), fuel (nice), switches,
gas cap (good), triumph and gt6+ emblems (nice), front calipers with new rubber
installed, some glass and plastic lenses (ask), quarter windows and one
side window,
two month old rear brake cylinders (too bad I didn't inpect the hubs)...
there may be something good, just email. I will refund completely anyone
who is not satisfied.
