A question for those many of you much more knowledgable than I. In removing my 73 TR6 head for valve work, I discovered a crescent shaped opening, about 1 inch long, in the block casting at about ten o'clock location to the timing chain cover. It is covered but not sealed by the water pump housing. The opening shows on some catalogue drawings but not others. What's the purpose of this? Cooling? Anyone know? John -- p |
