On my '69 Spit, I replaced the Smith's "PCV valve" (I call it something
unrepeatable) with a right-angle PCV valve for a '73 Chevy Monte Carlo
350 c.i. Both are friction fit; I used a little O2 sensor silicone
seal on the replacement to ensure a good seal. I retained the stock hose
to the valve cover. The Spit runs a lot better now and is a lot
easier to tune. I recommend this mod to everybody who drives a car
with a Smith's valve. And keep the old valve for concours, but pack
it full of silicone.

Boy, I nearly typed what I call that valve THREE times. It's the
worst part on the car.
