I have used synthetic Mobil GL4 for the last six to seven years in
my Triumph 2.5 PI. I use the car every day, summer as well as (fairly
hard) norwegian winter. Despite a 150 bhp engine (TR5 spec) and hard
driving (much acceleration required on norwegian roads :-) I have
experienced no problems whatsoever. There is no noticeable wear on
synchros, bearings nor O/D.
The overdrive unit is a Laycock DeNormanville type A.
I have changed the gear oil once during that period, and would
think its due for another change soon.
