Circa 1976. I had a 64 Ford Falcon with a 260. I pulled the motor apart for a "poorman's" rebuild (new bearing and rings) at 140,000 miles. The pistons were already .040 over. I never had an overheating problem (if I could keep the radiator from constantly blowing apart) on that second go-round at .040 over. This is just one man's experience. The wall thickness you have may vary. I finally passed the car on at 175,000 miles. Tom Witt B9470101 |
