You can reduce the hieght needed when pulling the engine from the top by
raising the rear of the car. The engine then (more or less) comes out by
pulling it straight forward after the engine/trans assembly has been raised
far enough to clear the hinge panel.
This worked well but, having never pulled a Tiger motor out the bottom I
don't know if it is an easier way to go.
Pros of this method are that you don't need to disconnect the brake lines
from the front end (or remove the front end, duh). Cons are that you have
to support the rear of the car up a ways off the ground and you must remove
the hood.
I'm not sure what method I'll use when the motor goes back in the my Tiger.
It was easier to hang the motor and trans over a ratty old crusty Tiger on
the way to the body shop than it will be now that it is clean and covered
by an expensive paint job.
