Wayne: If you remove the crossmember, you can use the mounting points to
attach a chain to the body. Make sure it long enough to clear the
engine. Hook the engine hoist to this so you can move the body up and
down. I made a cart @ 5 feet long out of 3/8" plywood, 2"x4"s, and
industrial quality casters. I slid this under the car, (After
disconnectiong everything but the motor mounts) lowered the car until
the oil pan was just touching. Use some scrap wood under the front
pulley and exhaoust headers to suppport the weight and keep the oil pan
from getting dented.
Next use a scissor or bottle jack to lift the tranny enough to clear the
trans x-member. Then, unbolt the motor mounts from inside the front
fender well. Now, lift the body and roll the engine/trans out from under
the car. I did this solo, but would recomend an extra pair of hands. You
might have to "bounce" the body a bit to clear the headers, but once
it's clear, it'll roll out nice and easy.
