I owned a 1964 Corvette for 14 years and have driven a bunch of 70ish
vintage corvettes. Nice cars,
in my opinion anyway. 1973 is not a collectable year, but it still has the
same chassis, suspension etc as a more
desirable year, it just may not look as nice or have as much power. However
it should be exempt from smog laws since it's
so old, so you can build a 350-450hp motor for cheap, even higher with
nitrous or tri-power...
I would say he's asking a bit too much for it, but it's hard to say without
knowing anything about it.
12K might be a better price. What happened to the original motor?
I think that's the last year of the chrome nose or the first rubber nose?
Either way they are a blast to drive and
since it's a Chevy, parts are practically free. You can get tons of power
for little cost and still cruise all day in relative
comfort, unlike these old British cars, and when you step on the gas it
actually goes.
Don't get me wrong I'm addicted to British iron, I'm even contemplating
another Daimler... yikes!, but the Corvette is a car you can
just put gas in and go. Make sure to check the chassis for rust, especially
where it starts to kick up over the rear wheel arch.
Offer him 10k and see what happens.
