The '73 was one of the larger 'Vettes, wasn't it? As such, it really needed
the rat motor to give it the desired oomph; I don't know that a crate 350
would be adequate. OTOH, if you are perfectly happy with a 948 in your
Bugeye, forget I said anything ;-)

Do you know how nice of a Bugeye you could get for that amount of money? Or
how far you could drive a Bugeye for that?

Corvettes do not bring the happiness into your life that a Spridget does.
Someone else always has a better faster more expensive one to make yours
look bad.
