You MIGHT try a SLIGHTLY richer or
leaner idle mixture setting and see whether this has any affect on
"progression". 

Or, you MIGHT try a slightly richer or
leaner mixture on acceleration.

On an SU, one would do
this by varying the weight of the oil in
the dashpot.

Heavier oil, slower initial rise of the air
valve gives richer mixture for acceleration.

When it's the other way....it's the other
way! :)

Also...an off-idle "flat spot" or "bog" in
terms of initial acceleration can be caused by too much (or not enough)
initial ignition
advance.

Adjusting the mixture a bit one way or the
other, will normally correct this but you'd
be treating a symptom rather than a
cause...which is not necessarily a bad thing as long as the damn thing
gets off
the line smoothly!! :):)
