EGM>If I do the fasteners OK on the windscreen then the

EGM>What am I doing wrong? Is exerting super-human force

EGM>I end up doing the fasteners and side bolts and leaving
EGM>the rear locating brackets behind, because I'm scared

EGM>Finally, the hardtop has some considerable gaps (!) at
EGM>the windscreen header ends and the B-post tops but it
EGM>sure beats leaving the car in the soft top as no razor

My guess would be, your car is sagging slightly in the middle, bringing
the mounting points together about a half inch. My 65 midget had the
same problem, but only when I hit bumps. The top of the door would hit
the door jamb :( , I found out the car was a little "soft in the
middle.
To test, put a 4x4 under the middle of the car ( side to side) and a
floor jack under the center of the 4x4 ( a 2x6 will work if there isn't
enough room for both ) an jack the whole car up ( don't lift the
wheels! ) Now check your hard tops' fit, if it fits better... don't
use the hard top, a good bump and it might try to push the windshield
off the front of the car. I should not be that tight !
