I did the same thing


I used a shop vac.
I used it on BLOW not VACUME !
Moved the hose over to the outlet side and just let it blow through the
unit.
I removed the sensor and put the hose through there to ventilate the unit.

OUTSIDE by the way.

Adam,
           Glad this worked for you ,but would feel very unsafe using an
electric vacuum cleaner to remove anything with gasoline fumes. The arcing
of the motor can set off the fumes!!!
