How important are the brass manifold nuts?

In collecting all the bits to mount Freddy's new stainless steel exhaust 
system, none of the usual suspects seem to have the spec'd brass manifold 
to centerpipe nuts in stock. Will it cause me gigantic issues if I use 
stainless steel instead? I am back-stepping from a 4-1 header to a stock 
exhaust setup, so I have nothing on there now!
