Just had my 80 Spit out for a run this afternoon. Ran fine for about 15
miles, then started cutting out (as in, completely shutting down - the
tach would drop to zero, then the engine would kick back in a few
seconds later, then repeat). Seemed to occur at higher speeds and on
inclines. At lower RPM's the problem would go away. No problem at
idle. If I kept the speed around 35-45 mph and rpm about 2-2.5 K, it
ran smoothly enough to get it home.
To me it seems electrical in nature as the tach did a nose-dive to zero
each time and it runs off the coil (i think... ). Figured fuel problem
would give me reduced RPM's but show a tack with some RPM's indicated.
Any thoughts?
Mine ran to:
1. Coil
2. Energy Module (Allison)
3. Fuel Pump
4. Fuel Filter
Thanks!
