I agree, and it also depends on what you mean as "better".
Peak power is a nice thing, but I suspect most of us
want our LBCs to be something we can live with on
a day to day basis. Easy starting, at least a reasonable
idle, and smooth torque at low RPMs are all things that
most people want from their rides.
Maximizing everything for air flow is nice for the
dyno, but usually has sacrifices. There is a limit
to how much usablity most people will sacrifice for
a few more HP at 5800rpm.
That being said, go for the twin 1.5 inch no
doubt. It's not really too much carb for the engine,
my 1500cc Magnette has the same setup and it's not
like a Magnette is tuned for big performance or
anything!
Proper twin HS4 sets are NOT rare, just maybe
not common in North America. But that is what the
internet is for. ;>
