Hi Paul,
Unfortunately, it's too far to the outside where the dash overhang is wide
enough for the opening that's there now, but too small for a larger one to
accomodate the guage. Nice trick that you were able to do that, though.
I've been planning to make my own guage holder out of black krinkle painted
plywood like the glovebox and mount it next to the steering column, over the
parcel tray, but I'm still trying to decide on the guage configuration.
Essentially, I don't know if I want two or three. Oil pressure and clock
for sure, maybe an ammeter, also. Yes, definitely now that I think about
it. All the previous kidding aside (though a smokescreen WOULD be cool --
especially since I'm smog exempt!), I think I've pretty much decided to
install an old-style rounded chrome map light like the kind I think I
remember having on the dash of my MGA. It will look right and actually
serve a functional purpose.
