I've had the big rubber bumpers off of my '79 for repainting and there is a
very ugly metal bar behind all that rubber.

I was wondering if its possible to remove the huge overlay center chrome
bumper rear section to reveal a narrow Mk4 style behind it. Same for the
massive rubber blocks. It looks as though they both cover an otherwise nice
tight bumper. Anybody tried this? Can anything be done in the front?
