Pat,
   What oil filter are you using?  I once used a Fram PH8A (used on many
fords) and every time I started the car it was like I had just changed
the oil,It took a lot of time to refill the filter. I switched back to
the Fram 922A and the problem was solved.Hope it is this easy for you.
