Recently we discussed the black taillight area on a Sit Mk IV. I should
have paid a little more attention. Now that painting time is near, I can't
remember two things (1) was this done in all MK IV's or just the earlier
71's? (2) was the paint flat or gloss black?
Our 72 shows only one sign of having been black in that area. The Boot lid
is black on the trailing edge below the trim. The area around the lenses
and the tag does not look as thought it has ever been black, but I suspect
that the car has been professionally painted at some time and they may have
done a good job of replacing the black with blue.
