I am doing the same thing Tom is doing only because nobody will be able to
tell that I went to 12 volts. The only way to physically tell is the RED
label on the generator and the pulley size and I have swapped those to make
it look like 6 volts. Altho the alternator would be more efficient there is
no wiring changes going to the generator. Carter sells a 12 volt resistor
coil that eliminates all the worry about the points as well. At least this
is the way I understand it. I am still months away from adding the
electrical on the 50. My 49 was already set up this way.
