In an earlier post I told how my tach in my 69 GT would die when the headli=
ghts were turned on.=C2=A0 Someone mentioned that the tach was looking for =
a ground through the light wiring for the instrument.=C2=A0 That turned out=
to be true, somewhat.=C2=A0 To test this I pulled the instrument to inspec=
t the wiring and found what you see in the picture.=C2=A0 One arrow points =
to the ground connection on the back of the case and the other arrow points=
to a common ground just floating around behind the instrument.=C2=A0 For a=
n experiment I slipped the ground wire connector over the threaded mouting =
stud of the case back and shoved the tach back into place temporarily to fi=
nd out about the missing ground theory.=C2=A0 It worked!=C2=A0 You didn't t=
hink it was going to be that easy did you?=C2=A0 The light had not illumina=
ted the instrument before either, so after scraping and sanding the bulb hl=
der and the tube fitting on the back of the tach that the bulb shoves into,=
the light worked too, but wait there's more!=C2=A0 After this hollow victo=
ry I had to use the horn on the test drive.=C2=A0 Now the horn does not wor=
k, but when I push on the steering wheel stalk to activate the horn, the br=
ake warning light comes on.=C2=A0 I just love electrical problems.=C2=A0 No=
