Mine had EP 90 when I bought it (1984) and it shifted horribly =E2=80=93 =
part of the reason the price was so reasonable, PO thought the gearbox =
was bad. Switched to engine oil and has shifted well ever since.

This BL Technical Service Bulletin dated April 1975 states that EP 90 =
gear oil has superseded engine oil. i.e. previously the recommendation =
was for engine oil. There are unverified statements that this was later =
rescinded.
