Manual Choke

Hello,

I am wanting to put in a manual choke cable for my Z-S carb setup.  I am 
curious how to run the cable through the firwall.  Do I have to drill a hole or 
can I go through some existing opening.  Also on the dash I have a blanking 
plate in an empty switch position.  Can I mount the know there somehow?  I have 
a 79 MGB.
