Geeze, my fault, I wasn't thinking about the later V-6s. Still, it
*might*
be lighter than the Rover. I'm assuming such a new Jap engine
would be aluminum block, so it could be lighter. Probably not
by much though. The early Z V-6s were not big on hp.

Still, the newer V-6 makes 222 BHP normally aspirated, 300 in the twin
turbo mode, at the flywheel. Lowering the boost will lose HP, and
again, while the later turbo Nissan V-6 is an interesting powerplant,
it is *much* easier to fit the Rover V-8. With the Rover V-8, you
can use off the shelf radiator hoses and motor mounts, so while you
may have a source for parts now, with a Rover engine you'll also
have sources for replacement parts.
Plus, with a Rover powered MG, your car won't be considered a complete
bastard. Maybe that's not important to you, but with the Rover engine
comes a large support network, while the Nissan route will put you
in the lone wolf category.
