One of the guys in our local club carries a clean soft terry-cloth towel
with him to pad the rear window. Seems to work pretty good so far. A bit of
bother, but if it can stave off or delay the inevitable, may be worth it.

Regarding the GT .. try rear ending a tractor trailer at 40 mph + - this
ought
to do a splendid job of removing that top from the GT and it won't scuff the
plastic windows on your roadster either!!!- BUT please remember to duck as
this endeavor could prove to be hazardous (even with a roll bar).

But I may wait a bit to try it. It may be a little difficult to raise the
top in case of "liquid sunshine"
