Well, my engine is in the machine shop this week for head porting and
balancing. My thoughts have now switched to the headers. Anyone out there
ever done custom headers? If so how much did you pay? Seeing the prices
for the V8 specialist makes me do a 180. ($300-$600 anyone seen them
cheaper?) I was thinking about going to some of the speed shops to see if
they could do a 4-2-1 system for me. Maybe take all 4 pipes down and back,
then reduce under the car?
I know there is some voodoo about planning an exhaust system (backpressure,
timing of it all, etc), but I know that the headers the V8 specialist
supply can't be that good. Slamming it from 4-1 w/in a few inches can't be
good. Am I right? Any thoughts on this idea would be appreciated.
