I'm old enough to remember the pre-disc days, and there's one way that that
disc brakes are truly superior. Disc brakes still work wet! Drum brakes
don't do diddly when soaked. I once had to make a panic stop right after
driving through a puddle with drums. For several heart stopping moments, I
had absolutely no brakes to speak of. This situation probably doesn't occur
often (emergency stop right after a puddle), but if it does you're in
trouble.
