Roger,
If you want your TD to handle better, then a front anti-roll bar would 
help.  An MGB bar can be used for this and doesn't look obvious at all.  
If you are interested, I can send you some information on this and also 
converting to front disc brakes.  They make a big difference.
For tires, I just ran across a source yesterday.  Check out 
http://www.autofarm.net.
